Part 2: Calling

Aug 16, 2026    Pastor Ken Loss

Marriage is more than a relationship we enter into—it is a calling to become more like Christ. Colossians 3 reminds us that followers of Jesus are called to clothe themselves with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and above all, love. These qualities don’t just strengthen our individual walk with God; they transform the way we love and serve our spouse.

But becoming like Christ doesn’t happen accidentally. We grow through prayer, allowing God’s peace to guard and shape our hearts; through God’s Word, letting His truth expose, guide, and transform us; and through engagement in the church, where we carry one another’s burdens, receive encouragement, and are challenged to grow. A Christ-centered marriage begins with two people continually allowing Jesus to change them. The goal isn’t simply to have a better spouse—it’s to become more like Christ and, in doing so, become the spouse God has called us to be.
